During the war against the amalekites, watching the battle from the top of a hill, Moses, Aaron and Hur had noticed that when Moses held up his hand - the children of Israel prevailed. But when he let down his hand - Amalek prevailed.
Moses' hands became heavy and he had difficulties to hold them up. So they took a big stone for him to sit on. And in teamwork, they supported his arms, holding them up, one on each side, till Joshua and his warriors defeated the Amalekites and gained victory. It is written in Exodus 17, 8-13.
This relatively big pendant is among the first ones made by CGJ. It was inspired by the very old olive trees at the Garden of Gethsemane in Jerusalem. Interestingly enough, although it was designed to tell Moses' story, some people identify in it Jesus' prayer in the night of his arrest.
